What is missed call text back?

Missed call text back is an automation that sends a text message to a customer whose call your business could not answer. Instead of sitting in voicemail, the caller gets a friendly message within seconds and can reply to start a conversation.

How does TextBack work?

You connect a TextBack number, forward your unanswered calls to it, and write the message you want callers to receive. When a call goes unanswered, TextBack waits the delay you choose (15 seconds by default) and texts the caller. Their reply lands in your TextBack inbox.

How long does setup take?

Most owners finish creating an account, connecting the number, setting up call forwarding, and writing their message in about 10 minutes on the shared number. A dedicated number (Pro plan) and US carrier messaging registration can add extra time, so we tell you clearly what applies to your plan.

Do I need to change my business phone number?

No. Customers keep calling the number they already know. Your unanswered calls are forwarded to TextBack, which handles the text-back.

How much does TextBack cost?

Plans start at $29.99/month for Starter (150 SMS), $49.99/month for Growth (300 SMS), and $79.99/month for Pro (500 SMS with a dedicated number). Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every plan includes a 14-day free trial, and you can manage or cancel your subscription from the billing portal inside your account.

Can customers reply to the text?

Yes. Replies arrive in your TextBack inbox so you can continue the conversation by text. Growth and Pro include the full two-way SMS inbox; Starter includes a basic inbox and call history.

What happens if I reach my monthly SMS limit?

Each plan includes a set number of SMS per month. When you reach the limit, automatic text-backs pause until your next billing period, or you can move to a larger plan.

Can I control when texts are sent?

Yes. Business-hours controls let you decide when automatic texts go out, and you can change the delay between the missed call and the text.

What if someone does not want texts?

If a contact replies STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT, TextBack marks them as opted out. Replying START restores messaging.

Is missed call text back legal?

Replying to someone who just called you is generally treated differently from sending marketing texts, but US rules on business messaging (including carrier registration) still apply and vary. Read our SMS compliance guide, and speak with a lawyer about your specific situation.
